Tre Cime di Lavaredo by hannesnitzsche
- Tre Cime di Lavaredo - Hey everyone, it's time for a first glimpse of Italy! Yesterday we drove 1,5 hours from our base in Maranza to the breath-taking UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tre Cime di Lavaredo and I have to say one thing: This is definitely in the Top 3 of The Most Amazing Places I've visited! Walking among these majestic peaks makes you feel completely dwarfed and it almost puts your entire existence into perspective. First off when visiting this place you start at Lake Misurina, a beautiful green lake, surrounded by countless gigantic mountains - and souvenir shops also. From here you pay the entrance fee and take a winding and spectacular road up to the "hut" that is Rifugio Auronzo. You can park your car here and start walking the trail to the famous peaks. If you're not sure where to go, just follow any one of the thousands of tourists that visit the national park every day. Every single bit of the trail is mind-blowingly beautiful and you want to make sure you arrive early enough so you can stop along the way and take photos of your surroundings. I mean, this place is THAT POPULAR for a reason! Next you walk past Rifugio Lavaredo and from here the trail splits up around the valley. The right path is built for vehicles and easy to walk. The left path is for hikers only and quite steep and slippery at times. I recommend you take the right route. Both paths will meet again on the Paternsattel/Forcella Lavaredo pass from where you will get a first glimpse of the famous three peaks and the hut "Rifugio Antonio Locatelli – S. Innerkofler " If you look up at the peaks from here you can regularly see rock climbers, scrambling up the vertical faces of the peaks - seemingly defying gravity, and all human instincts of self-preservation. Another 30-40 minutes walk with stunning vistas over a broad valley, that's surrounded by mighty peaks brings you to Rifugio Antonio Locatelli – S. Innerkofler(or "Dreizinnenhütte") and from here you get those post-card views. The hut has dorm rooms available for spending the night here and also caters food and drinks to travelers stopping by and catching their breath. The hike here takes around 1,5 hours and is classified as Easy. I would definitely recommend a visit as it'll be an unforgettable experience! The photo you see below is a 6-image panorama shot with my Canon EOS 6D and the 16-35mm f/4L IS USM lens. I used my NiSi Filters polarizer and 3-stop soft grad ND filters to capture this scene. I hope you guys enjoy this image! Dinosaur Egg Beach by axle88
Porth Nanven has sometimes been referred to as 'Dinosaur Egg Beach' in the media because of a remarkable deposit of ovoid boulders covering the beach and foreshore. These boulders come in all sizes, from hen's egg to a meter or more in length, and have proved so tempting as souvenirs that they are now legally protected by the National Trust which owns the beach. Many visitors assume that these weirdly shaped boulders are the work of the sea, which they are, but the sea of 120,000 years ago. Sea levels have changed several time since then and are now much lower than they were back then, causing the ancient beach to be suspended in the cliff high above the present level. Stand on the beach and look back towards the cliff, and you will see a wall of the rounded rocks waiting to break away and join those on the beach today. via 500px http://ift.tt/2cniNDy
