Wikipedia article of the day for October 10, 2015

The Wikipedia article of the day for October 10, 2015 is U.S. Route 41 Business (Marquette, Michigan).
Business US Highway 41 was a state trunkline highway and business loop off US 41/M-28 in Marquette, Michigan, along Washington and Front streets. Serving the downtown area, the two streets originated with the founding of the city in the mid-19th century. The original city hall was built in 1895 on Washington Street. In 1910 the city started paving its streets, replacing wooden planks with asphalt; later that decade, Washington and Front streets were included in the state highway system. In 1926 they were included in the United States Numbered Highway System. When US 41/M-28 was moved to bypass the downtown in 1963, Washington and Front streets were redesignated as a business loop. The highway was also co-designated Business M-28 on state maps between 1975 and 1981, mirroring a similar business loop designation in the neighboring cities of Ishpeming and Negaunee. Jurisdiction over the two streets was transferred to the city as part of a highway swap that resulted in the decommissioning of the trunkline in 2005.
