European innovation support network enables 3D surgery transmission (via EUREKA)

On 29 September took place at Telecom Nancy, a French higher educational institution, the 3D live transmission of two simultaneous surgeries. Both surgeries involved the use of a 3D camera. “The use of 3D, giving depth to the image, allows a more accurate representation of the situation. It corresponds exactly to what the surgeon sees. The transmission is allowed directly over the Internet thanks to the platform designed, that is, with no costly specific network dedicated infrastructures.” Explains Professor Jean-Marie Moureaux from Telecom Nancy.
