[Source: Research & Innovation] How do we want European cities to be in 2030? What are the major challenges cities are facing? How can R&I policies in/with/for cities lead us there? Registration for the EU Research and Innovation for Cities of the Future event, jointly organized by the URBAN Intergroup of the European Parliament and the European Commission, Directorate General for Research and Innovation is now open. This joint event will show how EU Research and Innovation actions are driving Sustainable Urban Development to support the transition to sustainable cities of the future. The event aims to: • Inform Members of the European Parliament, City Leaders, policy makers, academia, private sector, industry and innovation firms about ongoing EU urban R&I initiatives • Launch a public consultation on a High Level Experts’ Group Report on “EU Research and Innovation for Cities of the Future” • Invite discussion about the vision for ‘cities of the future’ and the transition that will be needed to reach the objective; the challenges and opportunities for innovative solutions from an ambitious EU R&I agenda Secure your spot at the event that brings together members of the European Parliament (MEPs), city leaders and policy-makers, innovation providers, representatives of cities networks, pioneers from technology and economics, European Institutions senior representatives and UN agencies. The event will include a dynamic programme with 3 sessions, keynotes and panel discussions from leading MEPs, senior European Institutions representatives and mayors, and pitches from scientists in breakthrough EU-funded R&I projects.
