[Source: Research & Innovation] The winners of the second edition of the SOFT Innovation Prize will be announced on 5 September in Prague during the 29th Symposium on Fusion Technology (SOFT 2016). The SOFT Innovation Prize is funded under the Euratom Research and Training Programme 2014-18. By awarding the three best contestants with respectively €50.000, €25.000 and €12.500, the European Commission wants to showcase and reward the excellence in innovation in fusion research. The Commission launched the prize in 2014. The prize contest is open to fusion researchers from all countries participating in ITER and any country which has a bilateral fusion cooperation agreement with Euratom. The SOFT conference is the leading international conference in fusion technology in Europe and it focuses on the latest developments in current and planned fusion experiments.
