Research Headlines - Auf Erfahrungen aufbauen

Research Headlines - Basarsi sull'esperienza

Research Headlines - Building on experience

[Source: Research & Innovation] There are many factors that can influence a building's energy performance that a simulation cannot take into account. This is why one EU-funded project has gathered experience-based input from other building and energy stakeholders on what worked - and what didn't. The result is enbuibench, a platform where users can compare a building's energy use against other buildings with similar characteristics.

Research Headlines - A breath of fresh air for organ transplantation

[Source: Research & Innovation] Better outcomes, even with older and less-promising donor organs: new methods trialled by an EU-funded project have generated compelling results, widening the scope to transplant kidneys and livers that might otherwise not have been considered. Patients and healthcare systems both stand to benefit.

Research Headlines - From value chain to value loop with biogas and mushrooms

[Source: Research & Innovation] Waste is only waste if you cannot put it to good use! EU-funded researchers have developed a circular value chain deriving income sustainably from wet straw, biogas digestate and similar residues, via products such as fertiliser, fuel pellets and mushroom substrate – and boosting energy generation in the process.

Final Conference of the InnoWEE project, 23 September 2020 - 23 September 2020, Online

[Source: Research & Innovation] Buildings are responsible for approximately 40% of EU energy consumption and 36% of the greenhouse gas emissions. Buildings are therefore the single largest energy consumer in Europe. At present, about 35% of the EU's buildings are over 50 years old and almost 75% of the building stock is energy inefficient. At the same time, only about 1% of the building stock is renovated each year. Renovation of existing buildings can lead to significant energy savings, as it could reduce the EU’s total energy consumption by 5-6% and lower CO2 emissions by about 5%. How can we make this industry more sustainable? Join our online event if you would like to find out how innovative economically viable, flexible and modular solutions able to process high amounts of CDW waste and reaching at the same time a high performance in terms of energy-efficiency and environmental and economic impact. You will get valuable insights into developments in the building sector that go beyond state-of-the-art.

ACT Matching-Events-Month: October 12th – 30th 2020 - 12-29 October 2020, Online

[Source: Research & Innovation] The Matching Events provide a platform for exchange across ACT Communities of Practice (CoPs) and other stakeholders (ERA level players) on the ERA priorities “decision-making, gender dimension and careers” and brings together different people interested in and working on similar topics and towards similar goals. Over three weeks in October we will be hosting six sessions - two per topic - dedicated to three ERA priorities. Topics to be discussed: see summary To end the month, there will be a joint (more casual and voluntary) session on October 29th, (time tbd). Everyone is invited to join with a drink, reflect on the events, connect with other participants and to have a nice evening.
